Two student teams from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) were awarded the ‘Merit Award for Innovation’ at the Global Student Challenge (GSC), an international business plan competition organised by the PolyU.
Students from one of the teams were studying the BEng (Hons) in Product Engineering with Marketing; members were Wong Kai Yin, Wong Cheung Wing, Wong Chiu Shing, and Sze Tsz Hung. Their project was titled ‘The Joy of Cooking’. This provides people with simple, comfortable, environmentally friendly, and good quality products at reasonable prices. In this project, students designed a product called ‘e-measure’. This was a measuring spoon which was adjustable by volume so as to help cooking beginners obtain accurate measures of seasoning to achieve culinary success.
The other team was from the Double Degree Programme in Business Administration and Engineering, members were Chan Hing Sum Hansen, Cheung Kam Pan, and Yung Mei Yuk. Their project was titled ‘Omni-Share’. This enabled academic learning tools and social-networking elements to be integrated into a single platform to provide ease and convenience for daily use and study.
