The Centre for Advanced
Manufacturing Research, based in the Department
of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The
Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a joint
effort of the Net Shape Technology Unit, Laser
Materials Processing Unit, Printed
Circuit Board Technology Unit and Ultra-precision
Machining Unit set up with the purposed of
coordinating and focussing research activities in
the areas of advanced manufacturing technologies.
With the allocation of funds totaling HK$49 million
from the Industrial Technology and Development
Council (ITDC) of the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Centre is the
first of its kind in Hong Kong to engage in the
promotion and application of research of advance
manufacturing technology for industry.
The Centre possess the state-of-the-art
facilities in the areas of advanced manufacturing
technology. The main emphasis of the Centre
activities is placed on the provision of services
including applied research, Consultancy, contract
research and manpower training.
