Students from the Industrial Systems and Engineering (ISE) Programme are well-equipped with knowledge and skills to enter diversified fields after graduation. To give our students more concrete ideas on their future career paths, the Department of ISE has organized a Career Sharing seminar on 29th November, 2012. We were pleased to have three recent graduates of the ISE Programme working in different fields, to share their insights with our future graduates.
The Alumni Sharing seminar, led by Prof. Felix T. S. Chan, the Programme leader, was attended by about 50 undergraduates and postgraduates from the ISE and Double Degree Programmes. Speaking at the seminar were three of our graduates from years 2010 and 2011, Mr. Gordon Wu, Engineering Trainee of BMW (HK), Ms. Gloria Cheung, Purchasing Coordinator of the Shangri-la Hotel, and Ms. Mandy Sin, Data Processing Specialist of LightSpeed Research. With insights from our young alumni, students were given exposure to current conditions on the ground, tips in job hunting, and how subjects from ISE could equip them in achieving their job aspirations. The Department hosted a dinner right after the seminar for the final year attendants and the alumnus to establish a tight communication channel.
The event was successfully run with students commenting that it was well worth attending and that they were enlightened. Another career seminar on job analysis will be held in the next semester to provide students with more exposure to potential careers.
