ISE Student Wins Student Thesis Award 2013

ISE student Miss Yin-Ying YIU (Emma) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) won the ‘CILTHK Logistics & Transport Studies Student Thesis Award 2013’, an open competition run by The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Hong Kong (CILTHK).

Emma, who graduated from the BSc (Hons) Logistics Engineering and Management  programme this summer, won the competition with her final year undergraduate thesis on ‘Feasibility Study and Design of RFID-based Garment Inventory Management Process in a Global Logistics Company’, which was supervised by Dr George HO.

The student project provides useful insights to a case company at the micro-view level by measuring, analyzing and visualizing the competence of RFID system performance in a warehouse environment for garment tracking. After graduating from the PolyU, Emma seized every opportunity of getting a job in logistics and supply chain management, and she is now working in S.F. Express Hong Kong Limited. The new environment and operations are challenging and allow Emma to develop her adaptability in diverse areas.

The competition is an annual event organized by the CILTHK, and is open to all university students who have studied a CILTHK Accredited Programme and have  undertaken an individual project in their final year of study. It aims to celebrate and support undergraduate students by recognizing their outstanding academic work .
