The RFID Solutions Laboratory of Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) organized a workshop of IoT-based Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform on 4 April 2014.
The workshop provided an opportunity for the project team led by Dr. W.H. Ip, Associate Professor of ISE, to present the deliverables of the project, which is supported by the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF), to Sino Parking Services Limited and their managers. A simulated environment was set up to illustrate the interactions between the developed hardware, software, middleware and mobile application. The participants were also offered a chance to have hands-on experience on the deliverables. All the participants paid careful attention to the speakers and greatly enjoyed the workshop .
Under the guidance of Dr. Ip, the members of the RFID Solutions laboratory are collaborating with Sino Parking Services Limited in an ITF project entitled “Development and Implementation of an Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform”. The project aims to develop and implement an Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform, including its related hardware, software, middleware and mobile application, through integration of different emerging technologies, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, Wireless Sensor Actuator Network (WSAN), Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud Computing. The platform provides a cost-effective solution to improve public parking services in Hong Kong.
