KA's Engineering Services Department constantly need to manage a large amount of technical and documents including, for example, internal documentations, aircraft manuals, service books, design drawings, and guidelines issued by regulatory authorities. Many of these are "living" documents as updates are frequent. A joint PolyU-KA team has been formed to establish the Technical Information Centre (TIC), a document repository, for the company. Among other duties, the team solicits requirements from the business users, define criteria for the evaluation and selection of a Document and Workflow Management System, assess and rank the submitted responses from vendors, and compile a representative sample of test documents and scenario for benchmarking the performance of the tendered systems. In a related but separate project, members from PolyU also recommended a multi-level taxonomy and helped to define the workflow processes for the TIC.
